One day you’ll breathe again.
You’ll look out the window and the sun will be out. And a little bit of the heaviness will be lifted.
You’ll cook a meal like you always have but somehow, it’ll taste like childhood, laughter and innocence and your heart will sing even if it’s just for a moment.
You’ll look around at your room and finally get the strength to pick things up. You’ll clear it all and mop, dust, vacuum. You’ll examine your hard work and it’ll ease the tightness for a while.
An unexpected kindness will floor you. Remind you that maybe just maybe someone cares that you exist. You’ll smile, genuinely, like you haven’t in a few months.
For a while now, breathing has been the hardest thing. Nothing was harder than something others found so easy. You’d considered finally giving up, not trying so hard to do it but…
Hold on,
One day you’ll breathe again, and it wouldn’t be miraculous or life changing but it’s the first step to getting out of the fog.
