You are enough

You are enough
Photo by Etty Fidele / Unsplash
The lines on your face irks you when you look in the mirror
You notice every wrinkle
Every dark spot.

The marks on your stomach makes you scream
As you try every cream
Every oil to erase those stretches.

The scars on your legs are not battle scars
But you don't care about their insignificant stories
As you take every drink
And try every oil
To make it all disappear.

But you don't know
That the lines tell a different story
The wrinkles say that you've laughed and cried
You've lived.
The stretch marks remind you that change is constant
And puberty hits us all.

The scars tell the story of all the times you've had
The battles you've won.
And everything makes you, you.

So maybe you don't want to see the mark you got at 5
From that time you fell on your bike.
And you dare not mention the burn you had at 7
From touching the iron your mom left on the board.
And maybe your stretch mark tells you you'll be fat
But what if it just means you have potential to be more.

And I wouldn't change it for anything in the world
Not a line, not a wrinkle, not a mark, not a scar
For they all make up my favourite person, you
And you are beautiful
And you are enough
Period.
