👋 Hi my friends, it’s been a hot minute. I hope you have been okay and life has been treating you well. And even if it has not, I hope you have been holding on like I have been doing. I can hardly believe this blog has been inactive since December 2024\. So much has happened since we have been gone.

I lost my job in December 2024 and it felt life altering. I was drowning and could not find a way out. The very last thing I wanted was to put it on paper. I was hurting and I was not interested in processing that in words. That sounds like a crazy thing to say as a writer but I have always been a better creative looking backwards. I like to live, process my feelings and only then do I have something to say.

In the midst of such a difficult situation, I lost my dad in February 2025 and that was life shattering. It is one of those things that define your life - there is a before and an after - I was living the after and it was a nightmare.

How do you even process such grief? My father and I have always been more than just family, we were also friends. There were no words that could express that loss so I did not even try. I still do not have the words to try. Some days I think I am fine, I am living, and some days I am existing - living in the in between - unable and unwilling to accept it. I live far from home so on the good days, I still think he’s a phone call away then suddenly I realise he is not.

Grief is never linear. It is usually one step forward and two steps backwards. I have felt every kilogram of the weight of those words. Instead of going on and on about not talking about it, I am choosing to end this paragraph on this note - he was everything, and I am not okay.

Eventually, things started to look up. I did get a new job which I absolutely love with the kindest and the warmest people ever. I work in a library and you should know, librarians are the coolest people ever. I moved from a town to a city and I feel a bit more settled now.

And with being settled comes reflection. I finally feel ready to create again. I have a couple of characters living in my head whose stories I want to bring to life. It is a total departure from my usual style. A new beginning really.
For the first time, I am writing a story in the romance genre - a genre I consume a lot but never create. I am excited to take you all on this journey and share snippets of my writing and the creative process. As always, we will continue to have discussions on the creative experience and what fuels it. There is a lot going on in the creative space, but also a lot of criticism. I cannot wait to share my thoughts with you all again.

I have got so much more to tell you all but for now, let’s begin with hello again. In the words of Taylor Swift, it’s been a long time coming.

This article is dedicated to my dad, the first supporter of this blog and the only one who commented on every post. For always!

Keep creating, keep reflecting, keep being.
